Key revolutionary groups call Monday protest in front of SPEC and Constitutional Court demanding enforcement of Disenfranchisement Law, which would exclude former regime member Ahmed Shafiq from presidential elections Revolutionary groups includingRevolution Youth Coaltion, Kefaya protest movement, April 6 Youth Movement and the Revolutionary Socialists,are calling for protests Monday in front of the High Constitutional Court and the Supreme Presidential Electoral Commission (SPEC) demanding the enforcement of the Disenfranchisement Law banning former regime figures from politics. Protesters are expected to rally at in front of the SPEC headquarters at 4pm and outside of the High Constitutional Court at 6pm. Applying the electoral legislation would exclude Mubarak's last prime ministerAhmed Shafiqfrom the presidential race.Liberal groups are consequently lobbying to have Nasserist contenderHamdeen Sabbahi replace Shafiq in the upcoming runoffs. According to preliminary outcome collated from the polling station results, Muslim Brotherhood's Mohamed Morsi and Shafiq will face each other in the second voting round taking place on 16 and 17 June. Sabbahi is currently third, closely following Shafiq, according to the unofficial results announced on Friday. The Disenfranchisement Law was discussed and approved by the People's Assembly then passed by the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) in late April. The SPEC consequently referred the legislation to the High Constitutional Court and accepted an appeal from Shafiq to remain in the presidential running.
