South Africa's forward Percy Tau wants to make history at Ahly
Published in Ahram Online on 09 - 09 - 2021

Ahly's new signing Percy Taw described his new side as ''a club of history'', explaining his move by his desire to be a part of that history.
The South African forward joined Ahly from Premier league side Brighton after penning a four-year contract with the Cairo giants last month.
''I think when we play in South Africa and get the opportunity to represent Al Ahly; it's a dream come true for many of us. I cherish this moment especially that I come from Witbank, South Africa," Tau told the club's official website on Thursday
"My ambition here is always to win. This club is a club of history, and I want to be part of that history."
The 27-year-old said he is ready to write a new chapter in his career, adding he is aware with the new challenges that he will face with his new club.
"I think it's a new chapter for me and I'm prepared for it. I think it's a step forward for me to be playing at a club of this level."
"The beginning of a great chapter is a title I would give to this new phase of my career."
"Coming to Al Ahly, means you've got the chance to try to win the league, CAF Champions League and to try to win the CAF Super Cup. You also have the chance to play in the Club World Cup. It all made more sense to me."
"I'm looking forward to participating in the Club World Cup. It's part of why I chose to come here; it's always good to go for a second time and to just keep going."
Tau revealed that his previous experience with his compatriot Pitso Mosimane who is in charge at Ahly will help him to shine.
Tau played under the guidance of Mosimane and they won the CAF Champions League 2016, before moving to Europe.
Mosimane, who took over Ahly in October 2020, led the Red Devils to two Champions League titles in 2020 and 2021.
"I know the coach very well. I always love to be around him. He's got the hunger to win. He works hard. We are almost similar."
"He wants to win. I always want to win. We've got the love for each other. We always try and get the best out of each other. He knows that I'm very engaging. He's also engaging to the players."
The international forward said that he learned a lot from his experience in Europe that started in the summer of 2018 when he joined Premier League side Brighton.
"I've moved to Europe when I was 24. During my time there, I learned a lot of things that helped me develop as a player and as a person. I will carry what I learned wherever I go. It will help me when I play at a new club in a new country." he concluded.
