Arsenal Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny has been confirmed out of action for three weeks after suffering from a hamstring strain he sustained during a friendly game against Brentford last week, the Gunners' coach Michel Arteta announced on Thursday.
"Mo has suffered a left hamstring strain and is aiming to be back in full training in two to three weeks," Arteta told a press conference ahead of English Premier League game against Norwich City on Saturday.
The 29-year-old, Elneny sustained left the pitch of Arsenal's friendly against Brentfordlast week 12 minutes before the break with a minor knock as the team's coach preferred to hand the Egyptian star a rest.
Elneny, who joined Arsenal from Swiss side Basel in January 2016, has one year left on his contract with the London club.
The Egyptian international has made132 appearances with Arsenal in all competitions since his arrival but played only one game this term, featuring for 45 minutes in the team's 5-0 Premier Leagye loss to Manchester City.
Last week, Elneny missed Egypt national team 1-0 win over Angola in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers due to the United Kingdom's quarantine restrictions, then he missed the 1-1 draw with Gabon on Sunday due to injury.
