Egypt's national team maintained their position at 46th place in FIFA's August world rankings that were released on Thursday. The Pharaohs stayed in 6th place among African countries, behind Senegal at 21st place, Tunisia at 28th, Algeria at 30th, Morocco at 32nd, and Nigeria at 34th. In the European rankings, Belgium reigned over the top ten national teams, ahead of France and England. Egypt — who previously made it into the world's top ten teams after they won consecutive African Cup of Nations trophies in 2006, 2008, and 2010 — placed 5th among Arab countries, after Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Qatar. Egypt's next game is scheduled for September against Angola in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, where they will be playing in Group F, which includes Libya and Gabon.
