Egypt extended on Tuesday its condolences to Algeria's people over the victims of the wildfires that broke out recently in a number of provinces across the Arab country. "The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its sincere condolences and support to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, its brotherly people, and the families of the victims," the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement. "In this painful incident, Egypt affirms its full support of the sisterly Algeria, expressing its sincere wishes that God grants a speedy recovery to the victims," the ministry added. Fanned by extremely hot and dry weather, dozens of fires have been reported in 14 Algerian districts, killing at least seven and injuring two. Six of the deaths were from the Tizi Ouzou province alone. Algerian Minister of Interior Kamel Beldjoud flouted the idea of the fires being a result of arson. Wildfires have also engulfed other Mediterranean countries recently such as Greece and Turkey, which are still battling the fires.
