Social media campaign launched to promote donation of unused medications in Egypt
Published in Ahram Online on 28 - 06 - 2021

Students of Mass Communication launched 'Daawy b Dawaak' ('Cure with your Medicine') in June 2021, aiming to create more awareness about means of donating various medication that are unused in many households in the country before they pass the expiry date.
'Daawy b Dawaak' continues to make efforts to encourage regular medicine drawer sorting and the donation of all unused dugs to the right channels to reach the right people.
The campaign already gathered momentum and is backed by many celebrities and known figures, including well-known TV presenters Osama Mounir and Mona Abdel-Ghani.
Abdel-Ghani and Mounir took to their social media platforms to praise the efforts of the students and encourage their audiences to extend a helping hand.
On their sites and platforms, the campaigners state that 'Daawy b Dawaak' strives to guide people to the right entities to donate their drugs so that they may reach those who are in actual need of them, rather than continue to be left unused till they lose their value.
The campaign focuses on directing donors towards the Medicine for All Organisation, an entity that specialises solely on medicine relocation.
Donated medication goes through a process of medical evaluation and sorting before reaching the recipients.
"Excess medicine can save lives" is one of the main messages of the campaign, highlighting the undeniable value of drugs.
