Egypt reported 801 new coronavirus cases on Sunday bringing the total infection tally officially to 267,972 since the outbreak began in February 2020. The health ministry also reported 43 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 15,352. The statement said that 733 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 196,604. Health Minister Hala Zayed said on Sunday that the first batch of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine manufactured by its state-owned vaccine maker Vacsera will be ready on 15 June. She told MBC Masr that the first batch will then undergo tests, and later offered rolled out to citizens within six months. Zayed said that over 3 million people out of 6 million people who registered for the jab have received the vaccine as part of the country's vaccination campaign that started late in January. The state plans to vaccinate 40 percent of the population at least by the end of the year, Madbouly said. Zayed said in a meeting last week that around 110,000 citizens receive the vaccine per day.
