Egypt detected 951 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the total cases nationwide to 264,557 since the outbreak last year. This is the third day in a row for the country's health ministry to register coronavirus infections below 1,000 since 27 April. The health ministry also detected 42 deaths, bringing total fatalities to 15,178. A total of 668 patients have been discharged from hospitals following recovery in the past 24 hours, bringing total recoveries to 193,491. So far, 2.5 million people have received the vaccination in Egypt as part of the country's vaccination campaign, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Wednesday. The state plans to vaccinate 40 percent of the population by the end of the year. Health Minister Hala Zayed, in a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, said vaccination centres nationwide have increased to 406. Egypt has received millions of coronavirus vaccine doses. Zayed said during the meeting that the country is set to receive a total of 3.9 million doses of Sinopharm, Sinovac and AstraZeneca this month.
