Minister of Health Hala Zayed said on Wednesday Egypt will receive 3.2 million doses of coronavirus vaccines in May. These include 1.7 million shots under the COVAX agreement, scheduled to arrive next week, Zayed added at the cabinet's weekly meeting. One million Chinese Sinopharm jabs are set to arrive over two shipments by late May as well, she stated. Egypt will also receive 500,000 shots of China's Sinovac this week. Egypt signed an agreement to produce Sinovac locally in the next few months. The national coronavirus vaccination campaign has depended so far on Sinopharm and Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines. The health minister said her ministry will launch medical caravans to vaccinate citizens against the coronavirus in front of Egypt's post offices nationwide.
