Renowned Egyptian screenwriter Mostafa Moharam died today at the age of 81. Born on 6 June in 1939, Moharam was among the most important screenwriters in Egypt with dozens of films and television series carrying his name. He worked with many Egyptian literary figures and adapted their works for films that have become landmarks of Egyptian cinema. Among his most notable works are Al-Majhoul, 'Oghneya 'ala al-Mammar', and 'Al-Raqisa wa Al-Tabbal' (The Dancer and the Drummer). Many of these films were directed by well-known Egyptian filmmakers and featured renowned actors. Since the 1990s, Moharam focused more on writing for television. He was behind scripts for Zohra wa Azwagha El-Khamssa (2010), Al Batniyya (2009), Raya wa Sekina (2005), El-Hag Metwali's Family (2001), among many others. Funeral prayers will be held on Friday at Al-Sayeda Nafeesah Mosque.
