A new unified real estate ID system under development will enable the State to take stock of real estate wealth and create a central database that may be used in licensing and ownership registration procedures, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Monday. Madboubly was speaking during a meeting with the ministers of communication and information technology, justice, local development and housing to discuss the efforts under way for completing the development of the new system, which is expected to assist in the government's planning and development processes. It will also serve e-commerce purposes, the premier added, emphasizing the need to come up with a very simplified system to enable the government to register old properties, especially in light of the millions of unregistered old buildings nationwide. "We only care about registering these buildings and protecting these properties," Madbouly stressed during the meeting. Meanwhile, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat revealed that the system will be applied first on Port Said Governorate. Deputy Minister for Administrative Development, Digital Transformation and Automation Khaled El-Attar, Chairman of the Real Estate Tax Authority (RTA) Anwar Fawzy and head of the information technology sector at CAPMAS Yasser Fathy attended the meeting.
