State-employees' wages in the state's FY2021/2022 budget plan have been increased by EGP 37 billion in implementation of the recent presidential directives, Egypt's Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait announced on Tuesday.
Maait explained that the total cost of increasing the salary increment for state-employees in the FY2021/2022 budget records EGP 7.5 billion, while the total cost of increasing the extra bonus posts EGP 17 billion.
He also said that an extra bonus will be allocated for the state-employees who will move to the New Administrative Capital in the FY2021/2022 budget, with a total cost of EGP 1.5 billion.
The total cost of increasing pensions in FY2021/2022 will reach EGP 31 billion, according to Maait.
The new increases in the state-employees' wages will increase the salaries minimum from EGP 2000 up to EGP 2400 according to the grade of each state-employee.
For the state-employees who are subjected to civil society law, the salary increment will be 7 percent of the basic salary with a minimum of EGP 75 monthly without a ceiling, and will be applied as of 1 July 2021, Maait clarified.
For the state-employees who are not subjected to the civil service law, Maait expounded that an extra allowance, worth 13 percent of the basic salary, will be applied as of 1 July 2021 at the same minimum.
For the extra bonus, all sate-employees will get a sum of EGP 175 up to EGP 400 according to the grade of the employee, according to the minister.
On Monday, Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi issued directives to increase the salaries of all state employees and raise the monthly minimum wage.
