Three people were referred on Monday to criminal court for causing a woman to fall to her death from the balcony of her sixth-floor apartment in Cairo after they broke into her home. The three suspects, wielding wooden sticks and rope, entered the victim's home uninvited and detained her along with a male guest who was visiting at the time, according to a statement by the prosecutor-general. The suspects tied up and tortured the male victim, which scared the woman and led to her jumping to her death, the prosecutor added, with providing details as to the possible motive for the crime. The prosecution built the case on four testimonies, including from a neighbor who witnessed the incident from her own balcony. The woman was found dead at the foot of her building in the working-class district of Al-Salam on Friday.
