The foreign ministers of Egypt and Sudan said in a joint press conference in Cairo that a legally binding agreement on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam must be reached. Ministers Sameh Shoukry and Mariam Assadiq Al-Mahdi also demanded the formation of a quartet committee from the African Union, European Union, United Nations, and the United States to meditate in the talks.
