'It's been a dream of mine': Egyptian-Canadian actor Mena Massoud reveals poster of Egyptian production 'In Broad Daylight'
Published in Ahram Online on 21 - 02 - 2021

Aladdin's star, Egyptian-Canadian actor Mena Massoud, revealed the poster of Fe Ez Al-Dohr (In Broad Daylight) on his Instagram earlier this week.
"Check out the teaser poster for In Broad Daylight. It's been a dream of mine to head back to Egypt and act with some of the most talented artists in the world. Honoured to be a part of this [film]," Massoud commented in his post.
Directed by Morcos Adel, with a script by Karim Sorour, the film will be Massoud's first appearance in an Egyptian production.
It will also be an opportunity for Massoud to act in Arabic, specifically Egyptian dialect. During a conference, Massoud expressed that he is already working on improving his Arabic language as to be fully ready for the role.
In Fe Ez Al-Dohr, Massoud will portray Hamza, an international criminal who leaves Egypt to live abroad and returns to carry out some tasks in Egypt. His accomplice in crime in Egypt is Hana El-Zahed, who is also starring in the film.
Producers are yet to reveal the details about the new film's release date.

Born to Egyptian parents and raised in Canada, Massoud launched his acting career in Canadian cinema and television.
He was cast in Nikita (2011-2013), where he played a member of Al-Qaeda, and he has had roles in Combat Hospital (2011-), as well as the Canadian American show, Open Heart (2015).
In 2014, he acted in a Canadian short comedy, Americanistan, where he portrayed a character named Mohammed Ali.
More recently, he was cast in leading roles in Canadian films, including short drama Final Exam (2017) and drama mystery Ordinary Days (2017). He was also cast in Strange but True.
He conquered Hollywood by starring in the film Aladdin, opposite Will Smith and Naomi Scott. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the film was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 92nd Academy Awards but was ultimately not nominated.
Aladdin scored high in the 2019 Teen Choice Awards, garnering several awards, and also won the Favorite Family Movie prize at the 2019 People's Choice Awards.
The film is an adaptation of the popular tale 'Alaa El-Din and the Magic Lamp', which is one of the stories from the 18th century book Alf Laila wi Laila (Arabian Nights).
Following Aladdin, Massoud also appeared in a short video with Will Smith titled ‘Friend Like Me' and a TV show called Reprisal.
He also lends his voice to Rumi in Lamia's Poem, an animated film which is yet to be released.
