Egyptian documentary wins Al Jazeera documentary award
'1/2 Revolution' the personal documentary on Egypt's revolution by directors Omar Shargawi and Karim El-Hakim has won the Golden Award at Al Jazeera Documentary Film Festival

The documentary film ½ Revolution co-directed by Karim El-Hakim and Omar Shargawi, won The Golden Award in the long category at the 8thAl Jazeera International DocumentaryFilm Festival.
½ Revolutiondirected by the Danish/Palestinian Omar Shargawi and Egyptian/American Karim El-Hakimis a personal story about the filmmakers' involvement in the Egyptian revolution. The title was chosen to suggest that the revolution is not over yet and will be ongoing.
The documentary is a personal story, focusing on a group of friends living in downtown Cairo during the first days of protests in January 2011.
The film has travelled around the world in the past six months, taking part in 14 Arab and international film festivals. The film was screened at the opening of the 8thRencontres de l'image Film Festival, organised at the French Cultural Centre in Mounira. International screenings include the 8thDubai International Film Festival in December 201, Sundance Film Festival in Utah in the US, Trondheim International Film Festival in Norway, Rio Documentary Film Festival in Brazil, Thessaloniki International Documentary Film Festival in Greece, Gothenburg Film Festival in Sweden and True/False Film Festival in Missouri.
The documentary is expected be screened by the end of this month at Al Kasaba Theatre and Cinematheque in Ramallah on April 27 and 29, and then in Maysles Brothers Documentary Competition at the upcoming Belfast Film Festival, held during the first two weeks of June in Northern Ireland.
