Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi received on Tuesday, the special envoy of Ghana's President Annan Kato, in Cairo, the Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in an official statement. The meeting touched upon issues of bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Ghana, especially in the fields of trade and investment, as well as the exchange of expertise concerning the handling of the coronavirus pandemic's ramifications.
The meeting also dealt with the Egyptian role in backing the Ghanaian efforts in the development field via transferring Cairo's comprehensive development experience, the statement added.
The meeting was also attended by the Head of Egypt's General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel.
El-Sisi, during the meeting, underscored the historical relations between both countries, and Egypt's keenness in promoting these relations, according to Rady.
He expressed his confidence in the "effective contributions" of the Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, especially in terms of Ghana's hosting of the headquarters of the secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
"This will have a positive impact on supporting economic cooperation and developing intra-regional trade," the President El-Sisi added.
According to Rady, both sides agreed on strengthening joint efforts in this regard in a way that guarantees the effectiveness of the continental free trade zone and further enhances the economic and trade integration between the countries of the continent.
