Egypt and South Sudan exchanged viewpoints on Cairo's support to the efforts exerted in implementing peace agreement terms aiming at stability in the country, Egyptian Presidency spokesman Bassam Rady said.
Rady said Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met in Juba with South Sudan's Vice President Riek Machar in a meeting attended by head of Egypt's intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel.
The meeting saw discussions on boosting bilateral ties and the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan to achieve stability, development and prosperity.
It comes hours after El-Sisi met with his South Sudanese counterpart Salva Kiir, where he affirmed Cairo's "full and unlimited support for the efforts exerted by South Sudan's government to achieve peace and stability nationwide, [given what it represents of] an extension of the Egyptian national security."
El-Sisi, who arrived earlier today in Juba, held talks with Kiir on issues of mutual concern and means to enhance bilateral ties, especially on economic and development levels.
He also stressed the importance of possessing the will by all South Sudanese parties to render the recently-signed peace deal successful.
Last month, Sudan's government and rebel leaders signed a landmark peace deal in the capital Juba aiming at ending the decades-long war in which hundreds of thousands died. The signing ceremony was attended by Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
