Senegal's Demba Ba happy to help countryman Cisse at Newcastle
Newcastle striker Demba Ba insists he doesn't mind sacrificing his goalscoring ambitions for the sake of Papiss Cisse and his team
Published in Ahram Online on 17 - 04 - 2012

Despite scoring few goals during 2012, Senegalese striker Demba Ba has declared that he is happy with the role he plays at Newcastle United helping his fellow countryman Cisse hit the net.
The 26-year-old striker, who has scored 16 goals for Newcastle this season, has only scoredonce since returning from the African Cup of Nations in January, while Cisse has scored ten goals in nine games since joining the Magpies the same month.
"I work in order to score goals, but also so Papiss can score," Ba was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
"The coach told me he would put me on the left. And for the team I thought, 'Let's do it'.
"Also, I know the qualities of Papiss as a finisher. It does not bother me at all.
"As a striker you like to be in the striking position but now the coach has made a decision. He has decided for Papiss to be there.
"I do what I have to do to balance the formation for the good of the team. If I can be in the finishing area I do everything to be there, if I cannot, we do the work for Papiss," he added.
Demba Ba, refused to shake his coach Alan Pardew's hand after being substituted in the 63rd minute in Newcastle's 2-0 victory over Bolton last week, but he insists he is full of respect of the manager.
"I like to be up front but lately the coach has decided to play with three strikers and I do not mind playing on the side.
"If I score, that's great, but if I don't score there is someone else who does," he concluded.
