Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Friday that Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has tested positive for COVID-19, while the PCR test results of all the other national team players came back negative. The national team underwent a PCR test ahead of their game against Togo in the third round of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations' qualifiers scheduled for Saturday, which resulted in only Salah being infected with coronavirus. The EFA however assured that the Liverpool star has not experienced any symptoms. “Our international star is to follow the medical protocol after the coordination between the national team doctor and Liverpool, in addition to isolating him in his room and also isolating all who were in contact with him,” read a statement on the EFA official Facebook page. EFA concluded its statement with that the player will undergo more tests during the upcoming period. Egypt will host Togo on 14 November before travelling to Lome to play the fourth round of the 2022 AFCON qualifiers on 17 November.
