Porto fined for racist abuse at Man City match UEFA has fined FC Porto ?20,000 ($26,650) after its fans aimed racist abuse at Manchester City players during a Europa League match
UEFA says its disciplinary body found Porto guilty of “racist conduct of their supporters.” Man City complained to UEFA in February when Mario Balotelli and Yaya Toure, who are both black, reported hearing abusive chants during their team's 2-1 victory in Portugal. UEFA rules prohibit discrimination “on grounds of color, race, religion or ethnic origin.” Porto later suggested that the English club's players and officials misheard chants directed at its Argentine forward, Sergio Aguero. Man City won the return match 4-0 to advance to the last 16. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter: @AO Sports)
