Ahly's winger Ahmed Fathy will miss Sunday's African Champions League tie with Ethiopian Coffee as he will undergo knee surgery that will sideline him for three weeks. The 27-year-old player, who picked up the injury during Monday's friendly with Haras El-Hodoud, was already a doubtful for the second-leg of their round of 32 tie hosted in Cairo, but the other scans confirmed his absence. "Fathy will undergo knee surgery today, since additional scans revealed he suffers from troubles in the cartilage in his knee," the Cairo giants said in a statement on their official website on Tuesday. "The player will be out of action for three weeks, at least, and then he will start the rehabilitation programme," added the statement. Ahly's Portuguese coach, Manuel Jose, is already missing some of his key elements, like Hossam Ashour, Wael Gomaa and Abdallah El-Saied for different injuries. Jose has warned his players to take the Ethiopians seriously after the teams drew 0-0 in Addis Ababa. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter: @AO Sports)
