Diego Maradona's Al Wasl club says he did the “honorable thing” by storming into the stands last week to confront opposition fans who had taunted his girlfriend and players' wives. The acting head of the Dubai-based team, Abdullah al-Bishr, was quoted on the club's website Monday as saying Maradona's anger was “understandable” and apologized to the Argentina great, who took over as coach last year. The statement says Maradona “did the honorable thing.” Maradona was restrained Thursday after jostling with fans of rival club Al Shabab who heckled the women during his team's 2-0 loss.
