Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Saudi Arabia's King Salman agreed to continue intensive coordination and consultation on various Arab and regional issues in the coming period, a statement by the presidency said on Tuesday. Egyptian presidency spokesman Bassam Rady said El-Sisi called King Salman for bilateral talks and to check on his health after the 84-year-old Saudi ruler was admitted to hospital in Riyadh on Monday for a medical check-up. King Salman expressed his appreciation for El-Sisi's call, saying it reflects the depth of Egyptian-Saudi relations, the statement said. In a separate post on Facebook and Twitter, El-Sisi wished the king a speedy recovery. The Saudi king was "admitted today [Monday] to King Faisal specialist hospital in Riyadh for some medical tests due to cholecystitis," an inflammation of the gall bladder, according to a statement by the royal court, which did not disclose further details.
