2020 BAL season called off over coronavirus fears

The 2020 Basketball Africa League (BAL) season scheduled to start on 13 March in Senegal will be put off indefinitely due to fears over the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The tournament, a joint competition held by the National Basketball Association and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), is the first of its kind and was supposed to be the higher-tier continental league of Africa replacing the FIBA Afro League.
Egypt's Zamalek were supposed to participate in the tournament which comprises 12 teams.
The teams are divided into two groups: Sahara Conference and Nile Conference.
Sahara Conference comprises Algeria's GS Petroliers, Madagascar's GNBC, Senegal's AS Douanes, Morocco's AS Sale, Mali's AS Police, and Angola's Petro de Luanda.
Nile Conference includes Tunisia's US Monastir, Cameroon's FAP, Nigeria's Rivers Hoopers, Mozambique's Ferroviario de Maputo, Rwanda's Patriots, and Egypt's Zamalek.
