Egypt won the Handball Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday after defeating hosts Tunisia 27-23 in the final to secure their place at this summer's Olympic Games in Tokyo. The Pharaohs won their seventh continental title in style, overcoming North African rivals and record 10-time winners Tunisia on their home soil. Despite a slow start, Egypt managed to quickly overturn their 3-5 deficit before heading to the lockers room with 15-11 lead, thanks to Nimes winger Mohamed Sanad who produced a superb performance in the first half, scoring seven goals Egypt's solid defence and their composed approach helped them control the game, with a disjointed Tunisia side committing many mistakes in offence and defence. The Egyptians maintained their tempo in the second half, which was interrupted for around ten minutes with just three minutes remaining as tensions boiled over in the stands. Earlier in the day, Algeria defeated Angola 32-27 in the third-place playoff as both sides secured their place in next year's World Championship, which will take place in Egypt.
