Karim Abdel Gawad swept to an impressive victory in the Egyptian Squash Open final against the backdrop of the Giza Pyramids, beating Ali Farag in straight sets in an all-Egyptian final on Friday. Gawad, the world No. 4, dominated from the outset to lift the trophy with a 3-0 win (11-6, 11-8, 11-8) in 61 minutes. He outplayed his opponent with brilliant technique, with Farag failing to deal with his repeated drop shots throughout the contest. Abdel Gawad adds the Egyptian Squash Open, which is a PSA platinum event, to his haul of trophies that also include a World Championship triumph in 2016. "To win this trophy two times in front of my own fans, that's a big honour for me," Abdel Gawad told ONsport television channel. "It was very difficult to beat the world's number one 3-0 ... I'm very happy with my performance in this tournament and I wish Ali the best in the coming tournaments."
