The Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with global communications company ADTRAN Inc to provide the communication network necessary for the country's under-construction smart cities nationwide. AOI chief Abdel Moneim el Tarras witnessed the inking ceremony in presence ADTRAN's Chief Technology Officer Robert Conger, Chief Operating Officer Jerry Kelly and former Minister of Finance Hani Demian. This step comes under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's orders to localize technology and promote local manufacturing of communications and networking equipment by establishing partnerships with the global companies concerned. It seeks to boost the national economy by filling the gap in relevant imports and increasing investment opportunities. ADTRAN Inc. is a leading global provider of networking and communications equipment; its solutions are currently in use by service providers, private enterprises, government organizations, and millions of individual users worldwide.
