Egypt's unemployment rate fell to 7.5 percent in the second quarter of 2019 compared with 9.9 percent in the same period last year, the cabinet said in a statement. The figure stood at 8.1 percent in the first quarter of 2019 with approximately 2,267,000 unemployed workers out of a total workforce of 27,968,000 million. Government officials attribute the decline in unemployment rates in recent months to the national mega-projects the country is implementing. Unemployment was 9.9 percent over the whole year in 2018, according to the government.
