At least 19 people were killed and 30 injured in a blast stirred by a deadly collision in central Cairo late Sunday. In an official statement on Monday dawn, Egypt's health ministry announced the rise of the death toll to 19 at the explosion which took place near the country's National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Manyal neighborhood. The ministry added that there were currently 3-4 of the injured in critical conditions, adding that 54 of the institute's patients were evacuated to other hospitals. The interior ministry has said hours after the blast that several were killed and injured after four cars collided, leading to an explosion. The source said the explosion occurred after a speeding car moving at the opposition direction collided with three cars. Cairo University, which manages the NCI, confirmed the reason behind the blast, refuting reports that the explosion occurred inside the institute. Images of smoke and huge fire at the scene went viral on social media.
