Egyptian swimmer Farida Osman has won the bronze medal at the women's 50m butterfly finals at the 2019 World Swimming Championships in Gwangju after finishing third in the final with a time of 25.47 seconds on Saturday. Farida qualified for the final on Friday after finishing fifth in the semis with a time of 25.79 seconds. Osman didn't start the 50m freestyle event early on Saturday as she probably wanted to be ready for the 50m butterfly final. She was bidding for a new glory after she gave Egypt its first-ever medal at the swimming World Championships, winning bronze in Budapest two years ago in the same 50m butterfly event. Earlier on Saturday, Egyptian swimmer Mohamed Samy reached the semi final of the 50m backstroke event after finishing seventh in the heats with a time of 24.95 seconds. Samy's fellow Egyptian Ahmed Akram started his campaign in the 1500m freestyle also on Saturday, but failed to reach Sunday's final after finishing 19th in the heats with a time of 15:13.25 minutes.
