Egypt midfielder Abd-Rabou to join Saudi Arabia's Ittihad on loan Ismaily agree to loan out Hosni Abd-Rabou to Ittihad Jeddah amid uncertainty over whether the Egyptian Premier League will resume following Port Said tragedy
Egypt midfielder Hosni Abd-Rabou will join Saudi Arabia's Ittihad on a six-month loan deal, Ismaily announced on Saturday. “The club have accepted Abd-Rabou's request to join Ittihad Jeddah on loan until the end of the season,” coastal club Ismaily said in a statement on their official website. “The player has agreed to give up his EGP 5.75 million overdue payment.” Abd-Rabou has been a revelation for Ismaily this season, producing a string of impressive displays in the heart of the team's midfield. He is the Dervishes' top scorer with eight league goals. It remains to be seen whether the Premier League will be resumed following Wednesday's deadly clashes in Port Said, which left at least 74 dead and scores injured in Egypt's worst football disaster. Thousands of Masry fans stormed the pitch immediately after their side beat Ahly 3-1, confronting the visiting supporters in clashes which prompted an outpouring of anger at security forces. The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) postponed the competition for an indefinite period before its board of directors resigned in the wake of the Port Said tragedy. Abd-Rabou played for United Arab Emirates side Al-Ain for two seasons before returning to Ismaily in the summer of 2010. He has two years to run on his contract with the club.
