Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed Egyptian-German bilateral relations with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Friday in Japan's Osaka on the sidelines of the G-20 summit , the Egyptian presidency said. According to the statement , President El-Sisi has lauded the significant development and great leap in bilateral relations between Egypt and Germany in all fields. He also voiced his keenness on further engaging with Germany in order to achieve plans in development in Egypt. The Egyptian president also expressed how Cairo is looking forward to maximizing bilateral cooperation and political coordination with Berlin in light of Egypt's chairmanship of the African Union and Germany's membership in the UN Security Council. From her side, the German chancellor commended close ties binding Egypt and Germany, hailing unprecedented momentum recently witnessed between the two countries, mainly at the economic and trade levels. Merkel asserted that Egypt is one of Germany's key partners in the Middle East region. The Egyptian president reviewed Egypt's development efforts via implementing the comprehensive economic reform program, calling for increasing German investments in the county, and pushing forward economic cooperation. Merkel affirmed Germany's keenness on backing Egypt's ambitious measures to improve the economy and achieve comprehensive development, mainly through increasing investments and transferring German expertise, technology, and industry.
