Ahly players need a long break to play football again, says coach Ahly's Portuguese coach Manuel Jose hails Egyptians, Sympathize with his shocked players
Ahly's Portuguese coach Manuel Jose Da Silva has expressed his great sadness for Wednesday evening's football violence between rival fans in Port Said that left 73 dead. “I am very sad after that horrific football disaster. I can't understand the fault of the victims who were only travelling to support their team!,” the 65-year old coach told a TV program late on Friday. Thousands of Masry fans invaded the pitch after their team's 3-1 victory over Ahly and the resulting violence left scores dead and hundreds injured. A lot of Ahly's football icons like Mohamed Abou-Treika, Emad Meteab, Sherif Ekramy and Mohamed Barakat all announced their retirement from football after witnessing the deadly clashes and Jose seems very sympathetic with them. “I love Egypt because it's a different country with friendly people. If I was one of Ahly players, it would be very difficult for me to play football again,” explained Jose who denied that he will leave his post donating LE375,000 for the victims. “All Ahly players are in urgent need for a long break to forget this tragic incident and resume playing football again,” added the experienced coach who will leave Cairo for a short vacation in Portugal.
