EFA president, board to 'discuss' Thursday sackings
Following dismissal by PM, EFA chief Samir Zaher rejects notion of association's culpability in Port Said football violence

Egyptian Football Association (EFA) President Samir Zaher said on Thursday that EFA board members planned to "discuss" a government decision to sack them, stressing that they had "not been responsible" for Wednesday's football violence in Port Said that left at least 71 dead and hundreds injured.
"The EFA wasn't responsible for the Port Said clashes. The situation in Egypt was unstable; it's strange that we're being held responsible for the disaster," Samir told Ahram Online.
"Security at the stadium was the responsibility of the interior ministry," he added.
At an extraordinary session of parliament on Thursday, Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzouri announced the dismissal of the EFA board, along with the governor and security director of Port Said.
Zaher confirmed that the EFA board had "no desire" to lodge a formal complaint with FIFA concerning the prime minister's decision to sack its members.
"The EFA board will not file a complaint with FIFA despite the government's intervention," he said.
