Zamalek were handed a hefty EGP 200,000 fine by the Egyptian Football Association after their chairman launched a typical foul-mouthed rant against the referee of his side's league game against Arab Contractors. Firebrand chairman Mortada Mansour was also referred to the EFA's disciplinary body, the association said in a statement on its social media accounts on Sunday. No stranger to controversy, Mansour launched a vicious attack on Mohamed El-Hanafi, who was in charge of Zamalek's exciting 2-2 league draw with Arab Contractors last Wednesday. He said he had asked EFA officials not to assign the match to El-Hanafi, accusing him of being a member of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group. Zamalek were furious at what they perceived an illegitimate penalty awarded to Contractors with 10 minutes remaining, which Ahmed Ali converted to secure a share of spoils. The White Knights, who were awarded a penalty in the game, also said they had a valid claim for another spot-kick waved away by El-Hanafi. The draw trimmed Zamalek's lead at the top to two points over arch-rivals Ahly before they meet in an anticipated Cairo derby on Saturday.
