Zamalek blames coach Gross for draw with Algeria's NA Hussein Dey in CAF Confederation Cup
Published in Ahram Online on 14 - 02 - 2019

Zamalek football supervisor Amir Mortada Mansour has blamed the tactics of team manager Christian Gross after the 1-1 draw with Algeria side NA Hussein Dey in the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage late Wednesday.
"The delay of changing players during the game affected the game's result against the Algerian champions," Amir Mortada Mansour was quoted as saying on the club's official website after the game.
"We will do our best to win the coming games to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals," he added.
Zamalek was punished for wasting a plethora of goal-scoring chances when conceding a last-gasp equaliser in a 1-1 draw at home to Algeria's NA Hussein Dey which left them without a win in two group stage games in the African Confederation Cup.
Zamalek took the lead on the quarter-hour mark, thanks to a maiden goal by Morocco striker Khalid Boutaib, and looked on their way to a comfortable win after creating chances at will.
However, their wastefulness cost them dear, with the Algerians striking after a defensive lapse with a 90th-minute goal from Faouzi Yaya at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium.
The Whites' football supervisor praised the team's performance during the game, saying the team suffered from bad luck.
"The management will hold a meeting with Gross to discuss the reasons for the points loss, as well a return to winning ways," Amir Mortada Mansour said.
Zamalek lie at the bottom of Group D with one point, two behind Kenya's Gor Mahia and Angola's Petro Atletico and three adrift of leaders NA Hussein Dey.
