Egypt's artists and writers hold Coptic solidarity event
Egyptian artists and intellectuals respond to the attack on the Alexandria church with special event on Thursday at El Sawy Culturewheel

The Culture Resource Centre is holding special event titled “We Are All Egyptians.” The special cultural and artistic evening, set to take place at El Sawy Culturewheel, is being held in response to the latest brutality in Alexandria. A large number of Egyptian artists, prominent figures, and intellectuals will play a part in the event. The lecture is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, 6 January, 2011, at 5.00pm.
“We Are All Egyptians” is a collective cooperation between 18 foundations and independent cultural centres and institutions, including Culture Resource, El Sawy Culturewheel, Townhouse Gallery, the Egyptian Centre for Culture and Arts (Makan), Art Loa, Darb1718, Mastaba Centre for Music, CIC, Independent Filmmakers for Production and Distribution, Studio Emad Eddin, Zero Film Production, Orient Art Production Division, El Warsha (workshop) Band, Al Rihla Cultural Foundation, Godran Institution for Arts, the Crossroads of Alexandria's Contemporary Arts, Society Eskenderella for Cultures and Arts, Alexandria Atelier, the Association of Independent Egyptian Artists, and Fayyoum Centre for Art.
“We Are All Egyptians” also features the photographic work of Artist Nabil Boutros, carrying the same title, which all participating groups found suitable to symbolise the event. The participating celebrities will include writer Bahaa Taher, poets Amin Haddad and Bahaa Jahin, novelist Sahar El Mogy, artist George Bahgoury, and musician Fathy Salama. Invited artists include Daoud Abdel Sayed, Mohammed Khan, Noor Al Sharif, Mahmoud Hamida, Khaled Abul-Naga, Ahmed Fouad Selim, Samira Abdul-Aziz, Hind Sabri, Boshra and Basma.
