Egyptian giants Ahly have reached an agreement with Primeiro de Agosto to sign their forward Geraldo, the Angolan club announced on Saturday. Primeiro de Agosto did not provide further details in a statement on their official website but posted a picture showing Geraldo signing the deal. Ahly are yet to make a formal announcement. Geraldo is set to become Ahly's third winter signing following the acquisition of Wadi Degla's Egyptian international midfielder Mohamed Mahmoud and Maqassa left-back Mahmoud Wahid. The 27-year-old was instrumental in helping Primeiro de Agosto reach the African Champions League semi-final last season, scoring four goals in 10 matches. Should he join Ahly, he will be ineligible to take part in their Champions League campaign this term, having already played with his Angolan club in a preliminary round game. The Red Devils are seeking to rebuild an underachieving squad after several disappointments of late. They lost to Tunisia's Esperance in the African Champions League final before exiting the Arab Zayed Cup at the last 16 stage, with lack of depth in their squad cited as the main reason for their poor run.
