Germany call up Uth for first time, Sane keeps place
Published in Ahram Online on 05 - 10 - 2018

Germany have given Schalke 04 forward Mark Uth his first international call-up at the age of 27 while Manchester City's Leroy Sane has kept his place in coach Joachim Loew's squad.
Both players were included in the 23-man selection for the Nations League matches away to the Netherlands on Oct 13 and France three days later.
Uth scored 14 Bundesliga goals for Hoffenheim last season, although his inclusion was still a surprise as he has had an indifferent start to this season following his move to Schalke. "We have been observing Mark Uth for a long time," said Loew. "He is dynamic, quick and always offers an attacking threat. We want to get to know him better."
"We have two important games ahead of us which we are taking very seriously. The results will be crucial for the qualification from our Nations League group," he added.
Sane, voted last season's best young player in the Premier League, was recalled to the national team in September after being surprisingly cut from their final squad for the World Cup in June and July where Germany crashed out in the group stage.
He came on as a late substitute in a goalless draw against France but pulled out of the subsequent friendly at home to Peru for personal reasons.
Sane had faced scrutiny in the leadup to the matches with international team mate Toni Kroos saying he needed to improve his attitude to unlock his full potential.
