Liverpool's electric Egyptian forward Salah competes against Ronaldo, Modric for 'The Best' FIFA player award

Liverpool and Egyptian national team winger Mohamed Salah has been included in the final list of the Best FIFA Men's Player Award candidates alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric, The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) announced on Monday.
"The reigning Best FIFA Men's Player Cristiano Ronaldo is back in the running, while there are two first-time nominees in FIFA World Cup finalist and Adidas Golden Ball winner Luka Modric, and Liverpool's electric Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah," read a statement on the FIFA official website.
Salah, 26, who played the best football season ever played by an Egyptian, scored 44 goals in all competitions as Liverpool reached the Champions League final and finished fourth in the Premier League.
He finished as the elite Premier League's top scorer with 32 goals - a record tally in a 38-game top flight campaign.
The Best FIFA Football Awards recognise the finest in each category for their respective achievements during the period from 3 July 2017 to 15 July 2018 for the men's category, and from 7 August 2017 to 24 May 2018 for the women's.
FIFA will announce the winner of the award in a ceremony in London on 24 September.
