A wasteful Ahly side claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Wadi Degla on Tuesday in a game that saw many goal scoring chances from both sides and a great performance from Degla's keeper Mohamed Abdel-Moncef. Substitute Salah Mohsen scored the winner, ten minutes from time giving his side the chance to advance to the League table summit with seven points. Degla produced a strong performance during the game especially in the first half but strikers squandered many goal scoring opportunities, missing the chance to go to the locker room with a deserved lead. Ahly dominated the second half and they were close to open the scoring in many occasions but they waited until the 80 th minute that witnessed their only goal in the game. The first threat came on the 22 minute when Walid Soliman received a nice pass from Walid Azaro that made him clear but Degla's keeper Mohamed Abdel-Moncef denied the ball. Degla reacted quickly with Ibrahim Nedaye close-range shot was deflected by Ahmed Fathi . Ahly's keeper Mohamed El-Shenawy blocked a powerful shot from Degla defender Mohamed Mahmoud with a heroic save. Great Abdel-Moncef Degla keeper Mohamed Abdel-Moncef was the hero of the second half that saw a huge pressure from Ahly's players. Five minutes after the break, the veteran keeper blocked a nice header from Walid Azaro before denying a close-range shot from the Moroccan striker one minute later. Ahly's Winger Nasser had the chance to give his side a deserved lead in the 57 th minute but Abdel-Moncef came again on the rescue with a great save. Substitute Salah Mohsen met a nice pass from winger Walid Soliman with a powerful shot but Abdel-Moncef denied the ball in the 66 th minute. Mohsen scored the winner 15 minutes later after following a nice cross from winger Ali Maaloul to score in an empty net. Degla players tried to level the score but their trials were easily contained by Ahly's defense.
