Pyramids puts $2 million on the table for Zamalek midfielder Tarek Hamed
Published in Ahram Online on 11 - 07 - 2018

Egyptian football team Pyramids announced on Wednesday that they are preparing a $2 million bid for Zamalek concerning a possible move for the White Knights' international midfielder Tarek Hamed this summer.
"Pyramids are preparing a $2 million bid for Zamalek to hire the club's midfielder Tarek Hamed with a EGP 15 million salary per season,'' Pyramids tweeted on the club's official account on Wednesday.
Hamed, who was a key member of the Pharaohs squad that participated in the ongoing World Cup, has been criticised by Zamalek president Mortada Mansour, who claimed that the 29-year-old player is refusing to renew his contract with the club.
The international midfielder joined Zamalek in the summer of 2014 from Smouha and his contract will expire next summer.
Zamalek posted a video on the club's official website on Wednesday showing the club's president asking Hamed to renew his contract with the club or leave.
The player said that he is hoping to continue his adventure with the club, stressing that the club should give him a deal that reflects his efforts with the team over the past four seasons.
Mansour gave the player until Wednesday's night to give the club his final decision, but the Pyramids bid could be decisive in the player's next move.
Pyramids came into the spotlight after buying Egyptian side Assiouty Sports last month.
The club, who is believed to be owned by Saudi's Sports Minister Turki Al-Sheikh, has been making a big recruitment drive, hiring Zamalek duo international defender Ali Gabr and experienced midfielder Ahmed Tawfiq, and many promising player like Smouha defender Abdallah Bakri and Enppi forward Mohamed Magdi.
The club is also reportedly in the process of signing several key figures in Egyptian football to strengthen their ranks ahead of the upcoming season.
