BREAKING: Mubarak trial postponed to Monday Trial proceedings in Mubarak, El-Adly case delayed by one week; Prosecution lawyers call SCAF number-two Sami Anan to the stand
The trial of Egypt's ousted president Hosni Mubarak, along with former interior minister Habib El-Adly and six aides, was postponed on Wednesday to 2 January 2012. Mubarak and his men face charges of ordering the killing of unarmed protesters during Egypt's January uprising, as well as a host of corruption allegations. The defendants were all present in the courtroom for Wednesday's session, during which lawyers for the families of slain protesters insisted on summoning Army Chief-of-Staff Sami Anan – who is also deputy head of Egypt's ruling military council – as a witness. Lawyers for El-Adly, for their part, filed a request for documents on recent incidents of violence in which police forces and military personnel were involved.
