Ahly's new coach Patrice Carteron said on Wednesday that the Cairo giants rank among the world's greatest clubs such as Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barelona. "I am so proud to work at Ahly," Carteron told Ahly's TV channel after being unveiled as their new boss. "Ahly are a great team in the world. They could be compared to Real Madrid and Barcelona." The Frenchman penned a two-year contract with Ahly on Monday, succeeding Hossam El-Badri who resigned last month after a string of disappointing results towards the end of last season. The 48-year-old, who won the CAF Champions League with Congolese side TP Mazembe in 2015, said he is enthusiastic to start his mission at Ahly, adding he is ready to lead the team to trophies in the future. "I am a young coach and I have many ambitions to realise. I had a great spell at TP Mazembe and I'm eager to help Ahly win titles." Carteron, who terminated his contract with United States side Phoenix Rising, had a previous experience in the Egyptian league in 2016 when he took charge of Wadi Degla.
