CAIRO, June 12, 2018 (MENA) - French manager Patrice Carteron has set pen-to-paper on a contract with Al-Ahly Sporting Club for two seasons, Al-Ahly SC's football committee said on Tuesday. Following the club board's approval, the African giant Al-Ahly SC officially announced the signing of Carteron to take the seat of the manager for two years. Carteron, 47, who will arrive in Cairo on Wednesday, will succeed the 58-year-old coach Hossam el-Badry, who tendered his resignation in May. In January 2016, Carteron left TP Mazembe as his contact had run out. After leaving Mazembe, Carteron took over at Wadi Degla, an Egyptian club team in 2016-17. The team won 20 of their 30 matches during Carteron's tenure. In 2017, Carteron moved on to Al-Nassr, where he led the club to a third place finish in the Saudi Professional League, thus qualifying for the Asian Champions League. Prior to his career as a head coach, Carteron played at the highest levels of soccer in Europe. During his 16-year career as a player, he performed in 416 matches and scored 31 goals. Twice, Ligue 1 named him "Defensive Right Back Player of the Year."
