Published in Ahram Online on 30 - 04 - 2018

Egypt and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah said on Sunday that he has received confirmation that the argument with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) over his image rights is close to being resolved.
"I thank all people for their huge support today ... It was an unusual response from you, and your involvement pleased me," Salah wrote on his Twitter account.
"We have been promised that the matter will be resolved and the argument is heading for a solution ... I thank you all again," the Egyptian star added.

The 25-year-old Salah, who is an iconic figure in Egypt, has fallen out with the country's football association over what his agent believes is the exploitation of his image rights by football authorities.
On Sunday, officials from the EFA told local media they have not broken any rules, and accused Salah's agent of "indecent communication".
Salah expressed his disappointment over the way things have been handled amid an image-rights dispute with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).
"With great sorrow, the way things have been handled is very insulting. I had hoped things could have been handled in a more elegant way than this ..." the 25-year-old winger said in a tweet on Sunday afternoon.

Egypt's Sports Minister Khaled Abd El-Aziz said on his Twitter account shortly after Salah's tweet: "We will be in contact with all the parties involved to resolve the matter, especially as Egypt is preparing for the World Cup."
"Salah is an example to follow for all Egyptian youth. He loves his country, a sincere and a perfect representative for Egypt in Europe," Abdel-Aziz added.
Salah is Egyptian football's undisputed hero and one of the country's all-time leading top scorers, with an impressive haul of 33 goals in 57 appearances. He is the player of the year for both England and Africa.

"We reached an agreement with EFA boss Hani Abou-Reida to meet all of Salah's demands. I affirm that we all support Salah in fulfilling all the deals he has signed in England, without any problems," the minister said.

The English Premier League 2018 player of the year, Salah received huge support from the Egyptian people in his dispute against the EFA, with supporters launching a hachtag called "Support_Salah" that was the top topic on Twitter worldwide.
After receiving a promise that the dipute was close to being resolved, Salah said via Twitter that it's difficult for him to lose such a hashtag.

The dispute has peaked a little under two months before Egypt open their World Cup campaign with a match against Uruguay, ending their 28-year wait for a place in the world's most prestigious football tournament.
The Pharaohs' hopes of advancing beyond Group A, which also includes hosts Russia and Arab Gulf side Saudi Arabia, fall on the shoulders of Salah, an effervescent winger who played an instrumental role in helping the national team qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1990.
