Zamalek-Masry game postponed for security reasons Zamalek's Egyptian Premier League game against Masry, which was due to take place on Sunday, postponed for security reasons
Sunday's Egyptian Premier League game between Zamalek and Masry in Cairo has been postponed for an indefinite period for security reasons in the wake of the fresh Tahrir clashes. The Egyptian army's attempt to disperse sit-ins in front of the cabinet headquarters and in Tahrir square have left nine dead and hundreds injured, according to the health ministry. “The game has been postponed for security reasons,” Zamalek's chief executive Alaa Mekled said in a brief statement on the club's official website. The match was due to take place behind closed doors but Zamalek's White Knights, a group of the team's hardcore supporters, hinted that they would storm the match despite the crowd ban. The rest of Sunday's fixtures are scheduled to go ahead. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online sports on Twitter: @AO_Sports)
