Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held on Wednesday separate meetings with his Jordanian and Bahraini counterparts on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting for the Arab League.
In an official statement, foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said that Shoukry expressed to his Bahraini FM Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmad Al-Khalifa Egypt's full appreciation for Bahrain's efforts to preserve national Arab security, praising the brotherly and special relations between the two countries.
The Bahraini FM praised the depth and strength of Egyptian-Bahraini relations, as well as the cooperation between both countries in all fields.
According to the spokesman, the meeting included an assessment of both sides' vision as to the ongoing developments in the region and its effect on the stability of Arab countries.
Shoukry affirmed Egypt's firm stance on maintaining the Arab solidarity in light of challenges faced by the region, as well as Egypt's full support for supporting the security and stability of the Gulf region, which he described as indivisible from Egypt's security.
“Minister Shoukry accentuated Egypt's full rejection of foreign interference that aims to shake the stability of Arab states and interfere in their domestic affairs,” the statement said.
Later, Shoukry met with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman El-Safadi, where both sides discussed means of boosting bilateral relations between the two countries.
They also discussed developments relating to the Palestinian situation, and called "for concerted dialogue and a joint Arab vision to support the Palestinian cause."
The pair also disccused the crisis in Syria and the situations in Iraq and Yemen, as well as efforts in combating terrorism.
On Wednesday, Arab foreign ministers will hold a meeting following the inauguration of the 149th session of the Arab League, headed by Saudi Arabia in Cairo, in which they will discuss a number of issues, including means to confront Iranian interference in the domestic affairs of Arab countries.
