Zamalek eye strong start to Confederation Cup, aiming at first title: Coach Galal
Published in Ahram Online on 06 - 03 - 2018

Zamalek coach Ihab Galal says that his team is aiming to win the African Confederation Cup title for the first time in the club's history, insisting that Wednesday's match against Ethiopia's Wolaitta Dicha SC will be a difficult one.
"Our main aim is to win the Confederation Cup title," Galal said during a press conference on Tuesday.
"We are seeking a strong start to the tournament, but we must be cautious because we don't have enough information about the hosts," he added.
The Whites will be hosted by Dicha in the first leg of Africa's secondary club competition round of 32.
"The match will be difficult for three reasons. The first is the fact that the first match is always difficult," the coach explained.
"The second reason is the current team's lack of continental experience, and finally guiding the team for the first time in the presence of the opponents' fans.
"We will deploy the best strategy that fits the stadium's bad pitch," he continued.
"Having some experienced players, like Ahmed El-Shennawi, Tarek Hamed, Hazem Emam, Maarouf Youssef and Hamdi Nagguez, could make the diffidence for Zamalek."
After Galal's appointment early in January, Zamalek had a shaky start, but they managed to restore the balance in recent matches.
Zamalek won their last six successive Egyptian League matches, climbing to second place in the league table with 51 points, 21 behind leaders and arch rivals Ahly.
"I told my players that the team that wants to win the titles must win at home and away, regardless of who the opponent is," Galal concluded.
